An Excerpt from Deadly in Stilettos:

“I see you are up.” The voice startled him, but Greg knew who it was. “Demi just called me. We are meeting for dinner. Maybe I will just tie her up and bring her here to keep you company. What do you think?” Laurel leaned down in front of his face, touching his lips biting them.
Greg hated Laurel for the game she was playing. And to think Demi was worried about her, wanting to protect her. Now he was not so sure that her parents were the bad ones. From her actions, Laurel was more crazy and psychotic than anyone else he knew, even Anya. He would tell Demi first chance he got.
“If you do anything to hurt her, I will make sure you suffer!” Greg’s voice was strong, powerful, but Laurel wasn’t fazed by it. He was tied up. What harm could he do to her?
“Is that a threat Mr. Detective?”
“No Laurel. You can bet your ass, that is a promise!”
Laurel felt a chill down her spine hearing the words come from Greg’s mouth, realizing for the first time he meant every word spoken. Why she couldn’t have someone to fight for her like that, Laurel wondered. Suddenly, her plan to keep Demi all to herself did not seem to be the best idea she had ever came up with.  She wondered if she should just let Greg go. The voice in her head told her to stop thinking silly thoughts. She shook the thought away.
No way! Laurel thought. He was a cop. She would be thrown in jail for kidnapping an officer of the law. Laurel had to pull herself together, think about what she would do next. Demi had to believe he left and went back to wherever he was from, so that Laurel could be there to comfort her. If she felt betrayed by Greg, Demi would not try to contact him again. Laurel would get away with her plan. “Great idea,” Laurel said to herself smiling slyly. Greg had a great look of disgust on his face when she turned to look at him.
It saddened her to have to kill him, but no one would listen to her when she needed them too. Now was too late. Her parents were trying to kill her, but she did not tell the entire truth as to why. Laurel wanted each of them dead just as much as they wanted her to be. If only they would have given her the family business without putting up a fight. She would not have to resort to such evil acts. They would suffer and she would get everything in the end, Laurel beamed.
Greg watched Laurel and the big smirk that suddenly appeared on her face. What was she up to? Greg wondered. The look in her eyes told him Demi was in danger.
Noticing Greg’s concern, Laurel touched his hands. “Do not worry about Demi. I promise that I will take real good care of her. Once you are out of the picture. She will never want to have anything else to do with you once I am done filling her pretty little head with lies. I cannot wait to taste both sets of her lips. You will never have her!”
Greg tried to free himself. He used all of his strength, but fail. If he could have gotten his hands on Laurel, she would be greatly sorry. Pure evil, Greg thought watching Laurel walk out of the shed.
Before she left for her dinner date with Demi, Laurel came back with two bottles of water, and two sandwiches. Putting the items in Greg’s lap, Laurel winked and then walked out the door. He heard it being locked. Then there was only silence.
Judging from the amount of light shining through the tiny window, Greg estimated it was just after seven o’clock in the evening. It would be complete darkness soon, so he had to work quickly. Greg took one bottle of water and drenched the rope tied around his hands. He drank the other. The sandwiches smelled sour. He did not even bother eating them, although his stomach ached from hunger. Even though he would need every ounce of strength he had, eating spoiled food was not the way to go. That would only do more damage.
When the rope was wet enough, Greg moved back and forth until the rope loosened, releasing one of his hands. Quickly untying the other one, he bent down to untie his feet. Greg pulled out his cell phone calling Demi. It went straight to voicemail. Greg cursed. He had to get to her to warn her about Laurel. As Greg walked near the entrance of the shed, he heard voices coming closer. “She said to keep him alive, but make sure he suffers,” one of the voices said. Greg hid out of sight.
The men walked into the dark room searching for a light. Before they knew what was happening, Greg jumped out hitting both of them so hard they went out cold. All the years of martial arts training was finally paying off, he thought, thankful that his mother never let him quit.
Carefully looking around the wooded area, Greg realized that he had been right all along. He was in the back of the Cordwright’s home. He was only feet away from their pool and guesthouse. How could he have been there the entire time and no one  knew it was beyond him. Now Greg was on the lookout for more men hired by Laurel to keep him from getting away. Making his way across the yard was easy until he saw three huge shadows coming toward his direction. “Not again,” Greg groaned. He was not a violent man, and he hated fighting. But if fighting would save his life and bring him back to Demi he would kick as much ass as he had too.
Greg got on the ground waiting. He felt around trying to find something to use as a weapon. The only thing he found was a small branch from the tree above him. “This will have to do,” Greg whined. The men got closer and closer. Greg launched at the first one. The man fell to the ground. Greg used the stick to defeat his opponent. His movements were quick and accurate, hitting the man repeatedly until he was out cold.
The next man gave a good fight. He moved swiftly, landing a few good punches into Greg’s side. Stumbling, Greg regained his footing, and went at the man with all he could. Several punches, kicks and grabs later, his next opponent lay on the ground with his partner, out cold.
The final man was bigger and much stronger than the other two. Greg being a muscular and tall man himself was no match for the HULK HOGAN built frame standing in front of him. Greg moved, blocking the punches from causing him major bodily harm. The Hulk, as Greg nicknamed the man, was quick for his size, but his breathing told Greg he was getting tired.
Still moving fast as he could, Greg did a quick turn, kicking Hulk in the back of the leg. The bone immediately broke. The Hulk fell down hard. Greg kicked him in the ribs crushing several. The Hulk wailed in pain.
Greg did not look back as he ran as fast as his feet could carry him, jumped the gate, and went in the direction of the city. The fact that he had not had any food for the last two days did not slow him down. The love of his life was in danger. He was determined to get to her before Laurel did anything to hurt her. The anger Greg felt toward Laurel was undeniable. He could easily kill her when he saw her, but thought better of it. He was a cop. He was supposed to protect and save, not destroy and kill.
The light of a car coming behind him brought Greg back to reality. The car got closer and closer. Greg knew it had increased speed. He jumped off the side of the road into a massive ditch.
Covered in mud from head to toe, he leaned against the side of the ditch. Someone got out of the car looking down at him. The mud shielded him from being seen. Then he heard Laurels’ voice say, “He is probably dead. Send some men down there to check. Let’s go!”
Greg was even more furious. That bitch had tied him up, starved him, sent men to hurt him, and now tried to kill him. She would definitely regret that move. He stood still as he could until she was gone. He climbed out of the ditch but kept to the side of the road out of sight. Greg was getting tired. He took out his phone and dialed one of his contacts. “I need you to come get me. Use my phone to track my location. I also need you to send someone to the Plaza Hotel to warn Demi. She is in great danger.”
The person on the other side of the phone did as directed. Within minutes Greg was in a car, with some food and water, on his way to save his woman. It was good because just as Greg turned to look behind, he saw a dozen or so men go down into the ditch searching for him. No doubt, he would be dead at that very moment if his contact had not picked up his phone when he called.

An excerpt from Deadly in Stilettos:

Arriving at the designated location, Demi slowly walked up the front steps. She watched the cameras carefully before she picked the lock to enter. When the coast was clear, she slipped inside the house.
The foyer was beautiful, full of bold bright colors that gave the house a livable feel to it. The living area was immaculate. Mrs. Stratton was a perfect housekeeper, Demi thought. Wanting to admire the rest of the home, Demi gathered her focus to the main reason for her visit to the Stratton home in the first place. She did not have long, so she needed to pick up the pace. From her research, she knew that Chauncey was in his study like he did every night before bed.
Walking upstairs, Demi passed by several closed doors until she reached the study. The door was slightly ajar and dimly lit, so Demi was able to see Chauncey sitting in front of his computer deep in concentration.
The object Demi held in her hand was hid out of sight. Before she finished her task, Demi would make sure Chauncey saw who she was. She could not wait to see the look on his face when he looked up from his computer and saw her standing in front of him.
Slowly Demi pushed the door further open. Chauncey looked up from his work. The first things he saw were the shoes. He immediately knew who wore them because he had taken her away to Italy with him one weekend, and bought her that pair of shoes for an anniversary gift.
That was one of the things he loved about her so long ago when they were together. The first day he saw her sitting in one of his classes at Princeton, he noticed her shoes first. He confessed that fact to Demi after they began dating. He told her that they were always beautiful, sexy and unique, and he would later find out how expensive they cost. Deminis Bradshaw was a woman with many interests and having beautiful shoes was the greatest of them.
Demi smiled. She was still a beautiful woman, he thought. They did not make small talk, or acknowledge each other. Before Chauncey knew what was happening, Demi pulled something from behind her putting it up to her mouth. She blew, causing the object to soar through the room to him. Before Chauncey blinked his eyes, the sharp pin like blade went straight through his neck hitting the main artery. His body fell backwards from his chair, landing on the hard-wood floor.
The ninja “Blowgun” weapon was a great choice. It got the job done leaving no bloody mess to deal with. The sharp edge hit its’ target every time Demi found out before purchasing, but now knew personally it was definitely true. “Perfect choice”, Demi replied, smiling, turning around walking out of the study. The long black all-weather trench coat made her look like a Ninja when she moved swiftly to the front door.
Carefully leaving the Stratton residence, Demi looked around before walking down the steps, just in case the cameras got a glimpse of her. With the dimness of the lights and darkness of her coat, it would be hard for anyone to make out who she was. She hoped the brightness of her shoes was not detected.
Returning to the loft, Demi took a shower, and slept until it was time to go back to the airport to catch her flight the next morning.
When morning came, Demi repacked her clothing, put her shoes in their bag, and left without any trace of her having ever been there. Chauncey Stratton’s name was now checked off her list and there were only three more left. The next three would take more than a few days to complete, so Demi had to remain focused. No distractions of any kind would be tolerated.

Another Great Read!!!

Hello Souls,

It has been a minute since my last post, and although I missed you guys, I have been busy in a great way! My book "Deadly in Stilettos" is doing well, receiving rave reviews and I can only be thankful. God is awesome! I just wanted to stop by real quick to tell you about another great book. It's by TL Gardner and the name of it is The Protector...Book 1, part of the Demon Hunter series. Here is my review:

The Protector (Demon Hunter) (Demon Hunter)

In a time of loneliness, heartache and pain, Elijah Garland simply decides that life isn't worth living anymore. He takes matters into his own hands, only to be given a second chance. The presence of evil lurks in each corner, while Elijah sets out on an unknown journey that could leave him more lost than before his second chance, or with a new outlook on life and his purpose. His destiny is tested when good verses evil attacks his chance on finding love again, which he thought never to allow for himself. Will finally facing his purpose cause more than he has bargained for? Has becoming the Protector truly set him up to grave forces of evil? Well, I guess we will find out something because there are two more books.

I think I am in love with Elijah, the main character. This book was definitely way more than I hoped it would be. I found myself alongside the Protector thanks to TL's vivid story-telling skills. Every emotion felt by each character, I felt! I laughed, I got mad, I smiled and blushed even, and I cried as well. I would definitely recommend this book to the avid reader looking for something different, yet captivating! Great job Mr. Gardner. I am about to start book 2. Cherry pie...!

Okay Souls, if you decide to give this amazing book (series) a try, please let me know your thoughts by posting a comment below. I promise not to stay away so long. Until next time, Be inspired, Be encouraged, and Be YOU!!!

Hope In OUR NATION!!!

It has been days since the election now and people are still amazing me by their actions. We all live in a land that's free, rich of culture and filled with extraordinary people. It shouldn't matter the color of our skin, sexual preference, gender, financial status, we are all Americans. It's unnecessary to show/extend hatred to others. We are all entitled to our opinions, thoughts, feelings or what have you, not everyone will agree. That's perfectly fine. Just don't treat others hostile or inhuman because their views differ yours. It's time to work together, live according and teach our children to love each other. Let's face it, in the end there is only one who has the final say. I don't understand how some say that they are Christian and love God, and then hate his brother. Please shred some insight on that to me because I just don't get it, never have never will.

It's sad how I went to vote the other day and the man standing in front of me with his son, no older than four or five, told his son that we don't vote for black people. The saddest part of the whole episode was that he said it loud enough so I could hear him and then to add insult to injury, he turns and smirks in my face. I stood there with a huge, contagious smile on my face. It's pointless and requires wasted energy to even acknowledge such ignorance. I simply feel sorry for the child because he is being taught to hate at such an early age, not that it's good at any. I only pray that our "ONE" nation, under God wakes up and work together, because if not, it is only a matter of time before extreme chaos breakout.

The night of the election overwhelmed me with emotion because after seeing Governor Romney's supporters, and then seeing all the different races, ethnic backgrounds supporting our President, it gave me hope. It gave me hope that our nation can and will work together to get back to the way we used to be and better. I hoped me see that not all people are blinded by hate, or too self-absorbed that they cannot see past the color of someone's skin. We can love each other, support each other and work together. I say this all to say, don't let a small percentage hinder your love and acceptance of others who look differently than you. Love your neighbor as you would love yourself. Treat all people equal. You don't have to agree with their lifestyle or many other things, but it isn't your judgment or duty to treat others like something on the bottom of your shoe. Keep in mind that we are all made in the image of God, and everything that God made is good!!!

Until next time, be inspired, be encouraged and be YOU!!!

"LISTEN..."

“Silence…We all should hear”

Breaking news,
Headlining on every television channel,
Written in every newspaper,
Displayed all over the nation,
But it was too late,
Nothing could be done about it now,
The demise of our youth
Becoming larger than life…

Another child died today,
Her screams were heard by the trees,
The wind swayed to save her,
But soon darkness came in like a flood,
Overtaking her into the realm of death,
Crushing her core, rocking her soul, breaking her spirit,
Her pain is lost,
No more suffering…

Her body moved back and forth,
Destruction consuming her,
Blood kissing the wetness of the ground,
Chills filling the air as she lost consciousness,
The beat of her heart fluttered,
Her eyes blinked rapidly,
Until her mind couldn’t take the pain any longer,
She slipped away from it all…

The handgun lay to her side,
Finger still resting on the trigger,
Brain matter spilling from her head,
Smoke in the air,
The smell of gun powder
Assaulting her senses,
Bullet fragments her only companion,
For her, justice was served…

It happened each day for months now,
Being teased, pushed around, laughed at,
Whispers down the hallways whenever she appeared,
Rude comments posted on social networking,
Targeting her,
Singling her out from anyone else,
But why,
What had she done to deserve such ridicule?

In her room she sat in silence,
Crying day after day,
Slowly losing a battle that wasn’t hers to fight,
She became lost, damaged,
Defeating herself,
The girl she once was, slipped into depression,
No one saw the changes clearly displaying in her mood,
Her facial expressions reeked of pain, longing, suffering…

The decision was made,
No one would miss her,
No one cared,
She felt defeated,
Living the nightmare called life,
Penetrated by its brutal reality,
Pushed into the abyss of loneliness,
Overtaken by her peers…

How can we stop such cruelty?
If we continue to turn our heads,
Sweep it under our feet,
Never teach our children to tell,
To speak up,
To step in and help,
Dangerous consequences
Of hurting others,

A line of communication is crucial,
It is our responsibility
To fight for our next generation,
To make sure they are protected,
Not taken advantage of,
Bullied into self-destruction,
Pushing them over the edge of reasoning,
Taken too soon…

Something has to change,
Before this becomes an epidemic
Spinning out of control,
Before it hits home,
Shaking us with the unthinkable,
Before another child is lost,
Looking for a way to happiness
Deceived by suicide…

Book Review

Good Afternoon Souls,

Here is another amazing author you should check out. She is an awesome story-teller.

Author to know and watch out for: Leandra Le Rae

Hood Love

Hood Love is an awesome tale of love, betrayal, heartache and abuse. The main character Jonnae is a sweetheart. I felt every emotion, during all the things she encountered in the book. I was shedding tears, and that doesn't usually happen while reading. Watching movies yes, but not a book. The special bond between her and her brother is so touching, loving and genuine that it made me cherish having a brother. My brother and I share a similar bond. I could personally relate to this story because I am happily married to my high school sweetheart. Although our story isn't anywhere close to Jonnae's, Chink's or Capo's, we shared our ups and downs. I have the same best friend since the seventh grade and I couldn't imagine going through what Jonnae and Shakeisha went through. I hope that it all turns out well between Jonnae and her mom too. There is no greater love than of a mother and child. I won't give any spoilers, but this book is a page turner. I read it in three hours. I am so excited to see what happens next. If you are looking for a good story, Hood Love is an awesome choice. You won't be disappointed. Great read!!!

Leandra Le Rae is also on Facebook and twitter...get to know her there!

Until next time, be inspired, be encouraged and be YOU!

Book Review!!!

Uncle Tommy's Cabin- Book 2 Family TiesTL does it again. You know that usually book sequels are not comparable to the first, but I am glad to say that that is not the case here. I thought the first book was amazing but this sequel, far exceeded my expectations. I love horror and paranormal stories, and i'm not easily spooked, but TL got me several times with Uncle Tommy's Cabin 2. I couldn't stop reading and when I did, I could have sworn Uncle Tommy and Thomas Jr. were in my bedroom. I even thought up the tone the little chant the little boy always sing, and song it to my husband. He laughed of course. Yeah, weird I know, but what can I say. This book had me so engrossed that I felt every inch of fear, emotion, even the changes in the weather, playing out each scene in my mind. I even pictured myself being attacked by the bloodhounds. I won't give any spoilers! Tabitha and her friends were really brave and Darlene is a great friend. She is truly the definition of a ride or die chic. I wouldn't have returned to Jessup County for nothing in the world. This book is a great read, has an amazing story line and in the back of my mind I wonder if it is all over? Hmm... I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good book, period. Sure you will get a bit frightened at times, but that's the point when dealing with supernatural elements and ghosts. Another job well done Mr. Gardner. Now I'm off the read the "Demon Hunter series!"

Excerpt From "Deadly In Stilettos"

It had begun to rain and the wind blew a deadly chill along the avenue. Maybe they should have turned back, but it was too late. Finally, traffic was flowing normally and within minutes they were at the hospital. They knew Enry was no longer in the ICU, but in a private room on the fifth floor. All they had to do was take the service elevator and no one would ask any questions.

Enry lay in his bed. He looked completely out of it when Demi walked over and looked down on him. She smirked, “Too easy.” She leaned in closer. She wanted to get a few things off her chest while she had the chance. Whispering in Enry’s ear, she said all the things she should have said years ago.

“You will never hurt me again. I once was a fool for you and this is how you treat me? What did I ever do to you to make you want to hurt me so bad? All I ever did was love you. I wanted to be you wife and the mother of your children. Now, here you are helpless. Here you are lying in this hospital bed unable to move.” She laughed even as tears fell from her eyes.

Tabi put on rubber gloves, and then Demi got out the plastic container that held the slimy little creatures. She put a glove on her uninjured hand then took out the first one and put it on Enry’s back. The leech quickly latched on. Tabi and Demi smiled at each other, and then the two women applied leeches to Enry’s back until he was covered from his shoulders to his ankles. When they rolled him back over none of the leeches showed. When the nurses came in to check on him, they would not see them. The leeches would be free to drain his body of blood. Enry would die a slow and painful death, just as Demi wanted. No sympathy. He did not deserve any mercy.

Tabi turned and left the room. Demi followed, but not before making sure Enry got a good look at her shoes. He did, and to Enry those shoes were his ultimate nightmare. Women who loved shoes more than anything else were trouble, and now he knew just how much. Enry had once bought Demi beautiful designer shoes simply because he wanted to see her happy. Her expression when she saw them had sent a chill down his spine each time, but he quickly dismissed the look when she thanked him in more ways than one. Now she wore that same look. It was as if the shoes knew he was about to die, and the more he looked at them, the more he was sure he saw them smiling back at him. I must be hallucinating, he thought. Shoes did not smile. Suddenly, it occurred to him that someone had drugged him. Demi had more help than he’d realized. Did that many people truly hate him? Had he caused so much pain and grief that others were willing to help end his life?

Enry suddenly felt regret. Regret for doing all the hurtful things to people who didn’t deserve such treatment. He believed he could feel the leeches draining his blood. He tried to scream for help, but that was useless.

Demi walked toward the door, blew him a kiss, and then was gone. Enry fought to stay alive. He tried moving but could not. His movements got slower, his body became cold. The leeches kept sucking, sucking the life right out of him.

Demi and Tabi got into Tabi’s car. They put on their designer sunglasses and grinned like teenagers going on a joyride. They didn’t speak but the message was clear. Their secret would remain, even beyond the grave. The bond they shared was greater than before. No one would ever come between them or would it?

Author/Artist Spotlight:

Hello Souls,

As I told you a few weeks ago, I will be doing things a bit differently on the blog until next year. I want to showcase some of my favorite and newly found artists, writers, poets, or anyone else I come across that I feel you would love just as much as I. I believe that greatness comes in all forms and should be showcased. There is nothing like finding a hidden treasure or sparkling diamond in the rough. I am just grateful to be able to provide such a great service, through my blog, to all of you. I am all about helping others. We all have a voice to be heard. It’s time to stop talking about it and be about it! With that being said, today we have someone near and dear to me, a Poet on the rise to greatness. He is someone I have known for years, since high school in fact. So, let’s give a warm welcome to Isiah “Zae” Brown.  (This interview was conducted through email since we don’t live in the same state and couldn’t sit down to do a formal face-to-face.) We would have never gotten anything done because we tend to laugh a lot while in each other’s company if my memory serves me correctly. LOL Thank goodness we have the internet!

Before we begin, here is a picture of Isiah:

Good Afternoon Isiah,

First, I would like to say thank you for allowing me to feature you on my blog. Most people think that I want something from them, when in fact I just want to help. I am just showcasing their talents. On my blog I talk about LIFE, that's probably why it's titled "Passion, Love and all that other S$&T..."
Anyway, I have been blogging for almost two years now and I love it. I get to share my thoughts, feelings and beliefs with others all around the world. I’m ecstatic that they are about to be introduced to you, the next best-seller, world-known Poet. Yes, I speak it and believe that you will be right there with me and many other hidden gems on the top. We going places my friend!!! Okay, with that being said, let's get started!

Me: Hello, hello, hello, my dear friend!

Isiah: Hello there! Well, let me start by saying it is a pleasure to be interviewed by you. I am a fan of your work. I dig your style!!

Me: The pleasure is all mines. And thanks for liking or should I say appreciating my work. Truly means a lot. It’s always nice to know you have support from the people are grew up with. S/O to “THE HAWKS” I know you left us, but we had some great times in high school, right!

Me: Tell us a little bit about yourself

Isiah: Born in New Orleans and grew up in Kenner, I am a blessed man with lots of artistic adventures and I call them adventures because they take my on many journeys of discovering my true self through life. I love to draw also.

Me: At what age did you start or how long have you been writing?

Isiah: I have been writing for a long time, I noticed it began to really become more noticeable after my heart was broken about 10 years ago.

Me: What inspires you to write?

Isiah: What’s my inspiration... hmmm would have to be love for my life and family. Just people in general...  I love to reach others intellectually. Feed there hunger for more of what’s important to them... laugh love live long life (My philosophy).  Passion…passion…and more passion!!! Music too!! Neo soul!!!

Me: What is your overall writing style and why do you use it?

Isiah: My style hmm. I would have to say just a mixture of Free Verse and Haiku. I always write with passion. My writing usually has lots of love and expression as though I want to read it, like it’s a conversation or thought u had or better yet, thinking.

Me: That is why your work is so real, so passionate and people can relate to it. Like having a deep conversation indeed, nice!

Me: Who are some of your favorite writers, artists and why?

Isiah: People or authors that inspire me...hmmm. V. Kottavei Williams, I love her work. She speaks from the heart, always on a different level. Oddly, artist Salvador Dali…but they are many more I just can’t name them all. I really like vibing to Raheem Devaughn... my style for sure…dude bad!!!!

Me: Passion is the best inspiration and motivation for writers. When we feel it in our core, it draws our audience in. Do you like Bilal? And are you familiar with Sunni Patterson. She is amazing!!! I love her. And I dig your style too!

Isiah: Yes I like both their styles. They both go deep and I love to go there.

Me: Coolbeans! (Yes, I just said it. It's my favorite word) lol Sunni is sick with it!!! Meaning she comes up with the most powerful, outlandish, think outside the box, makes your heart skip a beat, bring tears to your eyes dialogue that I find truly breathtaking.

Isiah: I like that word…Cool beans…lol

Me: So, do you only write about life experiences or is some of your work fictional?

Isiah: Most of my work is nonfiction.  I love real life.

Me: Experience is the best TEACHER, right!!!

Me: What do you like to do in your spare time? Who is Isiah outside of writing? And what's your favorite color and zodiac? I like to ask the last question just for kicks to see if there are any Capricorns or lovers of purple like me!

Isiah: In my spare time I enjoy chilling, listening to music... drawing or painting, coming up with new ideas for inventions, spending time with my family. I like to get out on the town and dance with my Sweetie and of course write! My favorite color is golden brown. I am a Leo, August 1st.
Outside of writing Isiah is a best described as laid back going 100 miles. I am a thinker. I am a romantic and a techy... I enjoy sports...love to golf.  I really enjoy helping people as well. Very passionate about that!

Me: Sounds like fun all day, every day. It’s always good to laugh, be youthful, smile and most of all dance. I like making up my own dances, and my Hubby and family love it because I always make them wonder what I’ll do next. And there is nothing like spending time with family. It’s therapy for me just like my writing.

Me: So Isiah, is there anything else you would like to share before getting to your work?

Isiah: Hmmm…not that I can think of.

Me: Well, this has been fun, very insightful and personal. I love how we get to know more about you. This helps us understand you as an artist I believe.  Okay without further ado…
Souls, it’s time to show you all what I mean when I say that Isiah is a great Poet. When I first heard some of his works, I was speechless and that doesn’t happen very often to me. His play of words excited me, warmed me, heightened me, keeping me engaged and then wanting more once it was over. I wanted to showcase a few of his poems so you can experience first-hand the impact and effect they have on me and others who hear them.  Sit back, relax and get ready to be wowed!!
Each one of these poems are strictly as written by the artist, with his permission to copy and paste them on my blog. All rights reserved to the artist.

NEW BOOK PROJECT!!!! Childhood Friends

Prologue
“There are times in life where the evitable happens, that simply transforms us into our true selves, causing us to fight to survive or die. It’s called “Survival of the fittest”. Fight to live or simply live to die! Sometimes it’s the very people we claim to know that seek us out, wanting to bring harm upon us.” Prism couldn’t have imagined her small circle of friends, whom she loved dearly since childhood, to be the ones who wanted her dead. If anyone would have told her so, she would have cursed them with her tongue, telling them to go straight to hell. Now, she was living in her very own hell, fighting to stay alive.
“I cannot believe all that happened between the four people I called my friends since elementary school, but I guess you just never know. All these years, with the signs right there in my face, I still didn’t realize they were monsters. How could I be so stupid, so naive”, Prism thought. The things she learned about them were sickening. All those people, dead, mangled, ripped a part like rag dolls, eyes missing, Prism couldn’t get the images out of her head. She should have known years ago with all the signs but thought her mind was playing tricks on her. Each time she witnessed something strange, she dismissed it. Now, she knew without a doubt that her friends were something other than human. Where did they come from? Who were they really? What did they want? But most importantly, how could she stop them?
And if that wasn’t enough, she knew that she and her brother, Spectrum were something other than human as well. Now that she knew the truth, Prism knew that her life would never be the same and her friends could no longer be considered allies, instead enemies of the worst kind. If she and her brother had any chance, they had to search for others like them. She was sure there were others. She could feel them, but where? They just couldn’t be the only ones left, if so, they didn’t have a chance in hell of surviving. She suddenly became outraged. A powerful force to stay alive took over her. Prism tried to focus on what was happening, but she just couldn’t wrap her mind around it all. Months ago, her life was perfect. She was popular, had just turned sixteen, with a gorgeous boyfriend, loving parents and great friends who looked out for her. Now, she felt lost. Her life had taken a complete turn for the worst.
A million questions flooded her mind as she ran for her life. There was no time to try and figure it out now. She had to get away and fast. If not, she was a goner. She had to get to her brother before they did. They wanted him. She heard them talking just before she escaped about him being the link in their worse fear happening. Prism was confused. What did her brother have to do with something so extreme? He was only a child. But he was also in grave danger just as she and if anything happened to him, she wouldn’t be able to forgive herself.
Prism ran into the darkness, fighting hard to keep from falling or running into any trees. She didn’t know where she was or where she was going. All she knew was that she was running for her life, her brother’s life. They were after her, following behind like bloodhounds straight from hell. She could hear them howling like wild beasts just over her shoulder. She quivered thinking about the way they truly looked, with red eyes, razor-sharp teeth, long claws, snake-like bodies and scaly flesh. They looked like nothing she had ever seen before. The people she saw each day for the past five years transformed into savages, killers, menaces.
The bushes moved all around her as the wind swayed the trees from side-to-side, sending chills down Prism’s spine. It felt like arms were reaching out drawing her back in, moving up and down her back. Tears streamed down her face, but she refused to allow them to block her sight. As quickly as they fell, she wiped them away. Limbs crumbled under her feet as she picked up speed. She soared like lightning not realizing for full speed potential. It was as if she where floating on air. What was happening? Months prior she developed certain abilities she knew weren’t human, but didn’t think to ask her parents in fear that they would send her away or at least that’s what her mind told her.
Prism’s body ached from the several hours of torture they subjected upon her, trying to get her to tell them something she knew nothing of. What did they mean about “her kind”? So many thoughts played in her mind. She needed her parents. They would know what to do or tell you what to do. Prism was curious, and the firing within her confirmed that she wasn’t alone. Sure Spec was linked to her being her sibling, but she felt powerful presences of others. Shaking the thoughts once hearing to loud howling in this distance, Prism moved like the wind passing tree after tree.
She replayed the last hours in her mind. Her friends picked her up from home as normal for a Friday night. Something they always did to welcome the weekend, to just hang out and have fun. They were supposed to be cheering her up, taking her mind off of her parents, but what transpired shocked the life out of her. When they transformed right before her eyes, Prism nearly passed out. Her friends, the people she cared about most, changed into something that brought pure fear into her, yet she still felt connected to them. How was this possible? Prism needed answers and fast.
Bloodshot eyes stared upon her, piercing her soul and the horrible stench from their mouths made her eyes water, as they stood over her scowling. Their serpent bodies made her skin crawl, while decayed teeth showcased human flesh stuck between them. She knew that they wanted to rip her to shreds, but she was still alive.  Then Prism thought about Spec, thinking about what she overheard them say about him. Her brother was her only reason for still being alive she was sure of it. She always knew he was special, but now she know without a shadow of doubt. She needed to get to him quickly, before they did.
She didn’t know where to go or who to turn to. They assured her that she could never get rid of them. No matter where she tried to run or hide, they would always find her. They were linked together like a chain forever. Not if she could help it, Prism declared. She was nothing like them although she helped them do a few bad things to some classmates for teasing her years ago. If she had known that they were truly hurting people, she never would have participated. She didn’t like harming others and most certainly didn’t agree with the way her friends took actions and consequences to another level called pain. A few times Prism tried to stop them, even threatened to tell but that only pissed them off with her. Their friendship was never the same, and the person she tried to help, never showed up at school again. People were vanishing into thin air, and now she knew her friends were to blame for the countless number of disappearances and missing people pictures in and around town.
Prism’s body felt like she was ran over by a truck. Her face was gashed open, blood spilling into her eyes, making it harder for her to see in the darkness. Her left arm hung on barely, aching and dripping blood. She had to stop the bleeding. They would surely find her if she didn’t. They craved blood and knew the smell of it way beyond locating their prey, Prism learned a few weeks ago. Following her gut one day, she knew something was up with her friends. Tailing closely behind them after school, she got the shock of her life and now her life was in jeopardy. They smelled her presence. But when she saw them the next day at school, she remained calm, acting as normal as possible. The way Nova looked at her, Prism knew that he was on to her. They were extremely close until recently. She was looking for him, and wasn’t expecting to see what she saw that day when she did find him. That day changed everything between them, and each day after that, he only stared at her with pure disgust and anger. A few times, Prism could have sworn she felt him standing in her room at night, mocking her. None of the others treated her differently until months later. She regretted that day, but was glad to finally know that she wasn’t going crazy.
A light shun in front of her. If she made it to the light, she could find something to wrap her left arm in and get help from whoever resided there. How had she ended up in a place like this? Her parents were dead and deep down she knew that her friends were behind their murders. She just couldn’t prove it. All she had left was Spectrum. She had to protect him. Tears streamed down Prism’s cheeks again. She used the back of her right hand to wipe them away. This wasn’t the time to fall apart. She fought the pain aching throughout her limbs and moved through the woods like a thief in the night. Being on the track team, as well as discovering she had lightning speed was definitely paying off for her. Prism ran and ran, and then ran some more. “Almost there”, she told herself. Just as she was about to reach the hill in front of the house, something grabbed her pulling her back into the darkness. Prism screamed but no one heard her. They had her. What was going to happen now? In that moment she hoped that Spectrum was safe. What if she never saw him again?

Author Spotlight

As I joined a few reading groups on Facebook, I found many authors that I knew nothing about. I now know how much I have missed out on great reads, by amazing writers. Well, I am glad to say that since then, I have read some awesome books and gotten to know some wonderful people in the process. One person in particular, Ey Wade. She is a great storyteller, which draws you in front beginning to end. She is very humble, which is rare in this world of vanity we live in. Many of you may already know her as a writer, and have read her books but for those who haven't, it's time to get with the program. Don't deprive yourself any longer. The first book I read by this Author is called D.N.A.

Before I give you my thoughts on the book allow me to share a little bit about the author first. It always helps to learn a few things about someone before entering into their world. Well, at least it is for me!! So, Ladies and Gentlemen, Ey Wade.

About this author

 (Courtesy of Goodreads)

Knowing Ey as a writer and author is like cracking an egg’s shell in the air and wondering how far the splatter will spread. Wait, that’s kind of like knowing her as a person. She's like all over the board and always working on three to five projects at a time. Ey doesn't favorite spot in which to write and claims...

"My most exciting view is pointed at the keyboard. When an idea enters my head, I just flow with it. I haven’t been able to conform my writing to any specific pattern. I am more than often working on one story and the characters from another will just be dying to get my attention and I have to go into their world."

(Courtesy of her personal website)
I tend to write in various genres from fiction to picture books. Using pen  (same one for the past eleven years) and paper, laptop and as a newly favorite the word program on my cell phone. I have found I can write anywhere with that little contraption and my focus is intent. Has to be with those tiny keys, right? And then I just email to myself and copy past into my manuscript.

Before becoming a self-published author I followed the rules. Wrote outlines, character back stories, did the word counting, queries and everything. I even had an agent once. Unfortunately he was a horrible choice. Directed me away from Ballantine books (wish I would have known who they were then) who wanted The Perfect Solution and straight into the corrupt hands of Publish America. What a crock. After that fiasco I was so humiliated I couldn’t write. Fought and had my rights returned and now, I am back. I tried the querying again, but became frustrated when it seems the agents’ rules are so varied, too confusing for me. Not to mention the rejection letters can be soul crushing. I received a lot of positive reviews for The Perfect Solution when it was first published and yet when I began querying one agent informed me no one would like the book and yet it deals with negligence in the child care system.  So, off I ran on my own. I have recently put three novels, three picture books and a creative non-fiction book into the Amazon and Smashwords systems. I think e-publishing is one of the greatest inventions God has given to the world. I would advise any author to go that route when they have something they feel strongly about.

Oh, and to let you know I do have a stable life…I am the (always single) mother of three daughters who are all grown now, 27, 25, and nearly 20 years old and I home schooled them on a string and a prayer. Though it may seem as if I am a bit scattered brained I was able to school them into college by the age of seventeen and sixteen. The two eldest have graduated, yeah!  I am the drooling proud ‘Lovey’ of a baby boy named Jett Parker Ellington. Before being destroyed by Hurricane Ike, I lived in a nice home and owned a home-based childcare center and that’s me and my writing life in a nutshell.

                                                             D.N.A. by Ey Wade

My Review of this book: (posted on Good reads)

This story was so engaging from start to finish. It shows that even the brightest and maturest can be victims and encounter struggles in life. This book is a breath of fresh air. Ey Wade is genius! I will recommend this book to anyone, any age, but definitely my 15 year old daughter and my 15 & 13 year old nieces. Very inspiring and enduring story.

So, if you would like to write great stories that inspire, motivate and encourage you on your journey throughout life, make Ey Wade one of your choice writers. You will not be disappointed. Until next time, be inspired, be encouraged and be YOU!!!
